configuration file
An Extensible Markup Language (XML) file containing the parameters and settings used to set run-time values in a program environment. For example, Actuate products use the following configuration files:
In BIRT and the IO Design perspective, a file that specifies data source connection settings for a report or information object. The settings in a configuration file override the settings in a report executable file located in an Encyclopedia volume.
