Changing the position of the legend

By default, a legend appears on the right side of a chart. You can change the position of the legend to appear above, below, or on the left side of the chart. If a chart is too wide, positioning the legend above or below the chart saves space horizontally.

To reposition a legend, select Above, Below, Left, Right, or Inside, as shown in Figure 8-70.

You can also choose to remove a legend by deselecting Show Legend. For example, it is not necessary to display a legend if the chart shows only one value series. The bar chart in Figure 8-71, for example, does not need a legend.
