MONTH( ) Returns the month for a specified date value. Syntax MONTH(date) MONTH(date, option) Arguments date The date or date expression whose month to get. option A number that represents the month format to return. Use one of the following values: 1 to get the month as a number from 1 to 12. 2 to get the full month name, for example, January. The result is locale-specific. 3 to get the abbreviated month name, for example, Jan. The result is locale-specific. If you omit option, MONTH( ) returns the month as a number. Returns The month for a specified date value. Example The following example returns the month (1 – 12) for each value in the ShipDate data field: MONTH([ShipDate]) The following example returns the full month name for each ShipDate value: MONTH([ShipDate], 2)
